Why did Jesus Christ come to this Earth?
Why did He put on the skin of humanity and walk among the poor and needy?
Why did He submit His body to be tortured and killed?
Why did He allow the sins of all mankind to be cast upon Him when He was innocent?
It was that we may be changed. You may say "changed from what?" "Changed to what?"
We sit in the pews week after week. We open up the Word of God day after day. We sit and listen; we sit and sing; we fellowship, visit, serve and live...but do we CHANGE!?
It is not about the happiness of our lives. Too many people believe that our happiness as Believers is why Jesus came. Too many people believe that we trust Him, follow Him, go to church, read the Bible, pray and do other "Christian" activities in order to give us better lives...to make us happier in our lives. It is not about our happiness...it is about His glory.
All that matter in this life, in this world, is that which affects the Kingdom of God. Those are the things that the Bible speaks of as gold or jewels that will not be burned by the testing and purifying fires of the Lord. Those are the things that will still be in existence long after our lives are over and the world has ended. Those are the things that will affect all of eternity. The life that is touched with the Spirit of God through the love of a Child of God.
Will our lives be dreadful and horrible and boring and bland? No, it is very likely that the life of a Believer will be extremely happy and cheerful and joyful. But that is not the goal. That is not the end. If we have been happy but have not glorified our Creator and Lord, we have failed.
I urge each and every Believer in Jesus Christ to live a life sacrificed to Him. Only by accepting that our lives are not our own and choosing to glorify the Lord can we truly live the lives of Believers of Jesus Christ.
